Not veterinary advice
The AVA Project is scientific research infrastructure. It does not diagnose, prescribe, recommend doses, or replace a veterinarian.
If your cat is ill or has tested positive for FeLV, see a vet. Nothing published here should be used to make clinical decisions or to experiment at home.
Research hypotheses are always labelled as such. A hypothesis is not a treatment, however promising it sounds.
How this content is produced
Content is produced by an automated system that reads scientific literature and extracts statements linked to their source. Every statement shows the paper supporting it and the verbatim excerpt used.
Artificial intelligence is never treated as a scientific source: it interprets, it does not support. Models can be wrong, which is why every statement is verifiable against the original paper.
If you find an error, write to ava@avaproject.org. Correction is part of the method, and corrections are published.
Licensing
The project publishes different materials, and each carries different terms.
Our text (summaries, explanations, methodology): CC BY 4.0. Reuse it, including commercially, with attribution.
Structured data (claims, evidence levels, identifiers, statistics): CC0 1.0, public domain.
Quoted excerpts belong to each paper's publisher. They are not ours and we cannot license them: they appear as short quotations for research and criticism, always attributed and with their DOI.
The source code is released under Apache 2.0.
Scientific sources
Papers come from PubMed, PubMed Central and Europe PMC. We respect their rate limits and terms of service.
We store full text only for open-access articles whose licence permits it, and we do not republish it: the site shows only the short excerpts needed to verify each statement.
We analyse with AI only what we are licensed to analyse. Many publishers expressly reserve text-and-data-mining rights; we respect that reservation. Papers that are not open access are indexed by bibliographic data alone (title, authors, journal, year, DOI) and linked to the original, but are neither processed nor quoted.
We never circumvent paywalls or access controls.
Liability
Content is provided as is, without warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose.
The project accepts no responsibility for decisions made on the basis of this information. Its purpose is to guide scientific research, not clinical practice.
Personal data
The site is static and uses no tracking cookies or third-party analytics.
If you write to us, we keep your message only in order to reply. You may request its deletion at ava@avaproject.org.
